Last month the International Christian Film Festival culminated with the Angel Awards on Saturday night, May 2. In the short film category, Hope Studios’ Son of Abraham, directed by Ruslan Zavricico, won for Best Director and Audience Choice. Having screened during the festival, the audience expressed in the Q&A being impressed with both the quality and the filmmaker’s ability to cast Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts, especially after learning Ruslan was still a student in film school. Zavricico, whose family emigrated from Azerbaijan, spent time working in various Middle Eastern countries doing Muslim outreach. After his mother converted from Islam to Christianity, Ruslan was inspired to produce a film that could connect the faith groups with their shared commonality of Abraham.

For a behind the scenes look at the making of Son of Abraham, check out this video and follow our social media channels. The film will continue through the festival circuit throughout 2026, with a strategic release through social media, messaging platforms, and underground missionaries in Muslim territories in 2027.
